Notes

POS is an acronym for Board Position. This has also been referred to as the Equipment
Location(EQL) and the Physical Slot Number in previous documentation.
These numbers appear etched or silkscreened on the wiring side of the backplanes. They are not
the same as the slot numbers on the front carrier label!
The assembly comcode for the backplane has been included because backplane and carrier
marking over the years has been inconsistent; the comcode appears etched or silkscreened on the
wiring side of most backplanes.
-150V is the voltage for TN769's & TN746's that are powering neon lamps in analog message
waiting phones.
Test V means Test Backplane/Carrier Voltages. Previously all the POS 01 power supplies
provided test points for the different DC voltages on the backplane. The TN2036 provides that
functionality.

For duplicated G3 control carriers using minimum vintages, does any board have to be
the same vintage on both carriers?
For G3r, the Packet Interface (TN1655) must be the same vintage on both carriers.
For G3i/G3s/G3vs/G3si, the Net Packet (TN794) must be the same vintage on both carriers.

When is the TN765 Processor Interface still necessary in R8? When should it be
removed?
BX.25 adjunct links to adjuncts (for example, CMS, AUDIX, INTUITY, or others) that are to be
retained will still reside on the existing TN765 processor interface (P/I) in the designated P/I
slot. Remove the TN765 Processor interface only if all adjunct connectivity is being migrated to a TN799
control LAN (CLAN) circuit pack.

The customer's INADS password now requires a response to a numeric challenge. What
happened, and how do I fix it?
Beginning with R7.1, ASG challenges the craft, inads, and init login IDs. Customers must use the cust
login to perform tasks that they previously did with any of these logins. If the cust permissions are
incorrect, the Avaya project manager can change them.

Can I simplify the administration steps after an upgrade?
Yes. Use the
Automatic Registration Tool (ART)
the required forms. Contact INADS with any questions not answered on the Automatic Registration Tool
home page.
