On vehicles with "Basic" version Climatronic Control Module -

J255- front A/C control head, the doors for left and right side
vents as well as doors for left and right center vents are oper‐
ated by Left Side Vent Motor - V299- (left and right doors are
connected to each other respectively via a shaft, both shafts
are connected to a lever). Refer to
⇒ "12.2 Air Duct in Front A/C Unit", page 206
The Left Side Vent Motor Position Sensor - V299- is installed

in Left Side Vent Motor - G164- .
The control motor is secured to a retaining plate, this retaining
♦
plate can then only be removed and installed with the instru‐
ment panel installed when bolts -C- are not tightened too
tightly. Refer to

the connection of the lever on the control motors to the levers
on the doors cannot be checked with the instrument panel in‐
stalled, it makes sense to remove the instrument panel and
remove and install the control motor with the retaining plate
installed, despite the great amount of work involved to remove
and install this control motor.
Removing
– Remove the instrument panel. Refer to ⇒ Body Interior; Rep.
Gr. 70 ; Instrument Panel; Instrument Panel, Removing and

– Remove the bolts -E- from the Left Side Vent Motor - V299-
-B- and remove the control motor.
– Disconnect the connector -F- from the control motor -B-.
Note
If necessary, mark the connectors (same version on all control

motors) and control motors (for the different versions, refer to
the Parts Catalog) if it is no longer desirable to remove only
one control motor.
The Left Center Vent Motor - V110- -C- is present only on ve‐

hicles with a "Comfort" version A/C system.
Installing
– Connect the connector -F- to the control motor -B-.
