– Remove bolts -A- (tightening torque 10 Nm).
– Pull off the expansion valve -B-.
Note
Seal all open lines and connections on evaporator with suitable
caps (to protect from damaged and avoid dirt and moisture from
entering the system).
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
– Replace the O-ring seals -D- and -E-. For the correct version,
refer to the Parts Catalog.
– Make sure that the O-ring seals -C- and -D- are properly seat‐
ed on connecting pipes to evaporator.
Note
The expansion valve is available in different versions (same
housing but a different control characteristic), therefore ensure
the exact allocation. Refer to the Parts Catalog.
Coat the O-ring seals lightly with refrigerant oil prior to instal‐
lation. Refer to
⇒ "3.6 Refrigerant Circuit O-Ring Seals", page 26
The retaining plate -E- is installed on the connecting pipes.
Make sure they are seated correctly when installing the ex‐
pansion valve.
– Place expansion valve -B- on to connections on evaporator.
– Install bolts -B- (tightening torque 10 Nm).
– Connect the refrigerant lines for the rear expansion valve. Re‐
fer to

connecting and Connecting ", page 272
– Install remaining components.
– Evacuate and refill the refrigerant circuit. Refer to ⇒ A/C Sys‐
tem with Refrigerant R134a; Rep. Gr. 87 ; Refrigerant Circuit
(A/C System with Refrigerant R134a; Refrigerant Circuit, Us‐
ing Service Station).
– Operate the A/C system after filling the refrigerant circuit. Re‐
fer to

Observe the information regarding operating the A/C system after
filling. Refer to ⇒ A/C System with Refrigerant R134a; Rep. Gr.
