– Bring the control motors into service position, perform basic
setting of A/C system (bring the motors into the "service posi‐
tion"). Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester via the "Guided Fault
Finding" function.
– As soon as control motors are located in service position,
switch ignition off. Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester via the
"Guided Fault Finding" function.
Note
The control motors can only be re-installed in the service position
after removal.
– Remove the lower left instrument panel trim. Refer to ⇒ Body
Interior; Rep. Gr. 70 .
– Remove the accelerator pedal module. Refer to ⇒ Brake Sys‐
tem; Rep. Gr. 46 .
– Detach the relay carrier (with control modules) which is instal‐
led in left area next to A/C unit and set it aside. Refer to ⇒
Electrical Equipment; Rep. Gr. 94 and ⇒ Rep. Gr. 97 .
– Remove the air channel for air duct in driver's footwell.
– Remove the left cover of heater core. Refer to
⇒ "9.10 Left Heater Core Covers, Removing and Installing,
Front A/C Unit Installed", page 117
– Remove the bolts -A-.
Note
The bolts -C- are not loosened or removed to remove retaining
plate -B-, they are used to guide the retaining plate.
– Pull out the retaining plate -B- with control motors downward.
– Mark the connectors -D- and -E- (risk of interchange) and dis‐
connect them.
