– Remove the noise insulation (not necessary on vehicles with
a 8-cylinder TDI engine). Refer to ⇒ Body Exterior; Rep. Gr.
66 .
– Disconnect the connector -A-.
– Check the refrigerant circuit pressure using, for example, a
pressure gauge from the A/C Service Station. Refer to ⇒ A/C
System with Refrigerant R134a; Rep. Gr. 87 ; Refrigerant Cir‐
cuit (A/C System with Refrigerant R134a; Refrigerant Circuit,
Using Service Station).
WARNING
Only remove Refrigerant Temperature Sensor - G454- when
pressure in refrigerant circuit is the same or less than the am‐
bient pressure.
– Using a wrench, counterhold refrigerant line at hex head -D-
and remove Refrigerant Temperature Sensor - G454- -B- from
refrigerant line of A/C compressor.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

– Replace the O-ring seal -C-. Refer to the Parts Catalog.

– When installing, make sure that O-ring seal -C- is positioned
correctly in groove of Refrigerant Temperature Sensor - G454-
-B-.
– Using a wrench, counterhold refrigerant line at hex head -D-
and tighten Refrigerant Temperature Sensor - G454- -B- to 8
Nm.
Note
Position the wrench only on the hex when tightening the Refrig‐
erant Temperature Sensor - G454- .

Different versions of the condenser are available depending on
the vehicle version. Refer to the Parts Catalog.
Remove the refrigerant lines
– Discharge the refrigerant circuit. Refer to ⇒ A/C System with
Refrigerant R134a; Rep. Gr. 87 ; Refrigerant Circuit (A/C Sys‐
tem with Refrigerant R134a; Refrigerant Circuit, Using Service
Station).
– If necessary, remove the noise insulation (refer to ⇒ Body
Exterior; Rep. Gr. 66 ) and components which may obstruct
