– Install both refrigerant lines to the A/C compressor and tighten
the bolts. Refer to
⇒ "15.3 Refrigerant Lines, Disconnecting from Compressor
and Connecting", page 250
– Check refrigerant lines and their bracket to ensure there is
enough distance to the other components. Ensure there is also
enough distance between belts, bracket and pulley.
– After installation of a new compressor or after adding fresh
refrigerant oil to compressor on an already used compressor
(for example, after flushing the refrigerant circuit), rotate com‐
pressor by hand approximately 10 rotations before installing
belt or before tightening driveshaft to prevent compressor
damage.
– Install the cylinder head cover. Refer to ⇒ Engine Mechanical;
Rep. Gr. 13 .
– Install remaining components.
Note
Note tightening torques of the removed bolts and nuts.
– Empty and fill refrigerant circuit. Refer to ⇒ A/C System with
Refrigerant R134a; Rep. Gr. 87 ; Refrigerant Circuit (A/C Sys‐
tem with Refrigerant R134a; Refrigerant Circuit, Using Service
Station).
– Check the DTC memory for the Climatronic Control Module -
J255- A/C control head and erase any faults displayed if
necessary. Refer to ⇒ Vehicle Diagnostic Tester VAS5051 in
the "Guided Fault Finding" function .
– Operate the A/C system after filling the refrigerant circuit. Re‐
fer to
⇒ "21 A/C System, Operating after Filling Refrigerant Circuit",
page 332 .

Observe the information regarding operating the A/C system after
filling. Refer to ⇒ A/C System with Refrigerant R134a; Rep. Gr.
87 ; A/C System General Information (A/C System with Refriger‐
ant R134a; A/C System General Information). After charging the
A/C system.
