Removing
– Remove the retaining plate -C- with control motors -V158- ( -
V159- ) and -V109- ( -V108- ). Refer to
⇒ "9.23 Retaining Plate with Control Motors V158 ( V159 ) and
V109 ( V108 ), Removing and Installing", page 153
– Mark the control motors if necessary (versions vary. Refer to
the Parts Catalog).
– Remove the bolts -D- from the control motor -V109- ( -V108- )
-B- and remove the motor.
Installing
Remove the control motor on retaining plate.
– Install the retaining plate -C- with control motors -V158- ( -
V159- ) and -V109- ( -V108- ). Refer to
⇒ "9.23 Retaining Plate with Control Motors V158 ( V159 ) and
V109 ( V108 ), Removing and Installing", page 153
Note
Check the lever position of the control motors before installing
retaining plate, the retaining plate can only be installed correctly
when it is located in the service position. Refer to
⇒ "9.23 Retaining Plate with Control Motors V158 ( V159 ) and
V109 ( V108 ), Removing and Installing", page 153
– Install the removed components again in reverse order.
– Check the DTC memory for the Climatronic control module -
J255- A/C control head and erase any faults displayed if
necessary. Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester via the "Guided
Fault Finding" function.
– If necessary, perform a basic setting and output diagnostic test
mode on the A/C system. Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester
via the "Guided Fault Finding" function.

sides are operated by one control motor respectively, it is fas‐
tened at right on the A/C unit (both left and right doors are
connected to each other via a shaft, the control motors are
fastened at right on theA/C unit). Refer to

For RHD vehicles, removing and installing the retaining plate
together with the control motor may require additional steps
due to the pedal assembly and the location of the parking
brake, for example, remove the parking brake assembly.
Removing
– Turn the ignition on.
– Bring control motors into service position, perform basic set‐
ting of A/C system (bring the motors into the "service posi‐
