General Information

Note
If there is a malfunction in the system, first check DTC memory
of the Climatronic Control Module - J255- front A/C control
head (and of Rear A/C Display Control Head - E265- ). Use
the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester via the "Guided Fault Finding"
function.
If no fault is displayed, check the measured value block for the
Climatronic control module - J255- A/C control head (and the
Rear A/C Display Control Head - E265- ) and activate the af‐
fected component with the "Output diagnostic test mode" func‐
tion. Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester via the "Guided Fault
Finding" function.
For servicing operations on A/C system that are possible with‐
out opening refrigerant circuit, refer to
⇒ "3 Refrigerant Circuit", page 12
For servicing operations on A/C system that require the re‐
frigerant circuit to be opened, refer to
⇒ "15 Refrigerant Circuit, Servicing", page 241
Perform the following work after completion of repair opera‐
tions:
– Check DTC memory of the Climatronic Control Module - J255-
front A/C control head (and of Rear A/C Display Control Head
- E265- ) and erase any DTCs displayed. Use the Vehicle Di‐
agnostic Tester via the "Guided Fault Finding" function.
– Check coding of the Climatronic Control Module - J255- front
A/C control head. Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester via the
"Guided Fault Finding" function.
– If necessary, check adaptation of Climatronic Control Module
- J255- front A/C control head and Rear A/C Display Control
Head - E265- (not installed on all vehicles). Use the Vehicle
Diagnostic Tester via the "Guided Fault Finding" function.
– Perform A/C system basic setting. Use the Vehicle Diagnostic
Tester via the "Guided Fault Finding" function.
