Heated Seats with Seat Ventilation,
Checking
Note
From MY 2011, this vehicle has a Start/Stop System for specific
engines as optional equipment. If the vehicle has the Start/Stop
System, the seat heating and ventilation can be switched off
whenever the Stop function is active (to protect the Battery - A- ).
The setting for the heated seat control (and seat ventilation) re‐
mains stored in the Climatronic Control Module - J255- front A/C
control head. After the engine is started again by the Start func‐
tion, seat heating and ventilation is switched on again. Use the
Vehicle Diagnostic Tester via the "Guided Fault Finding" function.
♦ The information is exchanged via the Data bus system (LIN
bus) between the Climatronic control module - J255- front A/
C control head and the control modules for the seat ventilation.
Refer to Wiring diagrams, Troubleshooting and Component
locations.
♦ Depending on the vehicle equipment level, it involves the fol‐
lowing control modules ( Driver Seat Ventilation Control Mod‐
ule - J672- and Front Passenger Seat Ventilation Control
Module - J673- ). Refer to Wiring diagrams, Troubleshooting
and Component locations and use the Vehicle Diagnostic
Tester via the "Guided Fault Finding" function.
♦ The Climatronic Control Module - J255- front A/C control head
sends the request to turn on the seat heating/ventilation via
the local data bus to the respective control unit. The control
unit is dependent on the vehicle version and vehicle equip‐
ment level. Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester via the "Guided
Fault Finding" function (for the respective control module).
Note
The activation of information to these control modules is dis‐
played in measured value block of the Climatronic Control
Module - J255- front A/C control head. Use the Vehicle Diag‐
nostic Tester via the "Guided Fault Finding" function.
Currently the rear seat do not have seat ventilation.
The current front seat ventilation and heating level is displayed
in the measured value blocks for the Climatronic control mod‐
ule - J255- front A/C control head. Use the Vehicle Diagnostic
Tester via the "Guided Fault Finding" function.
The seat ventilation is optional equipment. It was introduced
as a running change from MY 2010. Make sure the vehicle has
the correct version of the Climatronic Control Module - J255-
front A/C control head. Refer to the Parts Catalog.
