Installing
– Make sure the bushings -A- are installed inside the compres‐
sor.
Note
Ensure bushings -A- are properly seated and contact surfaces
♦
are clean. Sockets installed incorrectly and dirty or damaged
contact surfaces can lead to alignment irregularities between
the compressor and engine. Alignment irregularities over op‐
erating time lead to damage to the ribbed belt or compressor.
The bushings -A- have different styles (different lengths),

make sure to use the correct version. Refer to the Parts Cat‐
alog
– Tighten bolts -C- to 25 Nm.
Note
The bolts must always have a washer -B-.
– Connect the connector to the A/C Compressor Regulator
Valve - N280- .
– Replace the seals -E- and -G- .
– Install both refrigerant lines on the compressor and tighten the
bolts -D- and -F-. Tightening specification. Refer to
⇒ "15.3 Refrigerant Lines, Disconnecting from Compressor
and Connecting", page 250
Note
Check refrigerant lines and their bracket for sufficient distances
to other components.
– Install the ribbed belt. Refer to ⇒ Engine Mechanical; Rep.
Gr. 13 .
– Empty and fill refrigerant circuit. Refer to ⇒ A/C System with
Refrigerant R134a; Rep. Gr. 87 ; Refrigerant Circuit (A/C Sys‐
tem with Refrigerant R134a; Refrigerant Circuit, Using Service
Station).
Note
Observe the information regarding operating the A/C system after
filling. Refer to ⇒ A/C System with Refrigerant R134a; Rep. Gr.
87 ; A/C System General Information (A/C System with Refriger‐
ant R134a; A/C System General Information). After charging the
A/C system.
– Install remaining components.
– Check the DTC memory for the Climatronic control module -
J255- A/C control head and erase any faults displayed if
necessary. Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester via the "Guided
Fault Finding" function.
