3 - Reservoir with Dryer Cartridge
❑ Receiver/dryer is a component of the condenser
❑ The dryer cartridge may only be removed when refrigerant circuit has been discharged; bring vehicle to
a workshop that has the necessary tools and in which the work can be performed accordingly by qualified
personnel. Refer to ⇒ Refrigerant R134a Servicing; Rep. Gr. 87 ; A/C System General Information
(Refrigerant R134a, Servicing; A/C System, General Information).
❑ The dryer cartridge can be replaced as an individual part. Refer to the Parts Catalog.
❑ Dryer cartridge, removing and installing. Refer to

4 - Coolant Fan - V7- and Coolant Fan Control (FC) Control Module - J293-
❑ The request to switch on the coolant fan is transmitted to the Engine Control Module (ECM) by front A/
C control head Climatronic Control Module - J255- via the CAN-Bus system. The engine control module
then actuates the fans or the Coolant Fan Control Module - J293- . Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester
via the "Guided Fault Finding" function..
❑ The respective engine control module switches the coolant fans (via Coolant Fan Control Module - J293- )
continuously to the desired output. Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester via the "Guided Fault Finding"
function.
❑ There are different versions installed depending on the vehicle equipment level. Refer to the Parts Cat‐
alog.
❑ Check actuation of Coolant Fan - V7- by the Climatronic Control Module - J255- front A/C control head.
Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester via the "Guided Fault Finding" function. Refer to ⇒ Wiring diagrams,
Troubleshooting & Component locations.
5 - Plenum Chamber Cover with Fresh Air Intake Grille
6 - Air Quality Sensor - G238-

8 - Expansion Valve
❑ For evaporator in front A/C unit (installed under instrument panel)
❑ May only be removed when refrigerant circuit has been discharged; bring vehicle to a workshop that has

After the A/C compressor is switch‐
ed off in this vehicle, it may take a
relatively long time for the pressure
on the high pressure side to de‐
crease (the expansion valve(s) is/
are cold, the pressure on the low
pressure side increases quickly af‐
ter deactivation, the expansion
valve(s) closes/close and the refrig‐
erant can only flow slowly to the low
pressure side).
