Removing
– Remove the glove compartment and instrument panel shell
(the instrument panel crossmember does not get loosened or
removed). Refer to ⇒ Body Interior; Rep. Gr. 68 ; Storage
Compartments and Covers
– Remove the A/C heat exchanger.
♦ For removing and installing the exchanger with the A/C instal‐
led, refer to
⇒ "9.18 Front Heater Core, Removing and Installing, A/C Unit
Installed", page 134
♦ For removing and installing the heat exchanger with the A/C
removed, refer to
⇒ "17.2 Heater Core, Removing and Installing, with Front A/C
Unit Removed", page 303
– Disconnect the connectors -A- and -B- (connector -B- with the
wire connection to the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -
Z35- ).
– Loosen the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element - Z35- ground
connection -C- from the instrument panel crossmember (tight‐
ening torque: 9 Nm). Refer to Wiring diagrams, Troubleshoot‐
ing and Component locations.
– Disconnect the connector -A- and the mounting points -B- for
the A/C wiring harness -C-.
Note
The instrument panel crossmember is not shown in the illus‐
tration.
Unlock the bracket on the mounting points -B- with a screw‐
driver -E-.
The wiring harness -C- can only be removed downward to‐

– Remove the bolt -A-.
– Remove the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element - Z35- -B- from
the A/C unit in the direction of the -arrow-.
