– Disengage the connector catches -D- by pressing retaining
tabs -F- and disconnect the connector.
– Wait 30 seconds (to protect electronics in the Climatronic Con‐
trol Module - J255- front A/C control head ).
– Disengage the connector -E- and disconnect it.
– Disengage the catches of connectors -A- to -C- by pressing
retaining tabs -F- and disconnect them.
Note
This illustration shows connectors on a Climatronic Control Mod‐
ule - J255- front A/C control head "Comfort" version with optional
equipment "heated seats". On the "Basic" version, connectors
-A- and -C- are not present, on vehicles without "heated seats" as
optional equipment, connector -E- is not present.

Front A/C Control Head, Installing
– Check the clips -B- and -C- on the Climatronic Control Module
- J255- front A/C control head.

Note
Only install a Climatronic Control Module - J255- front A/C control
head -A- on which clips -C- (form-fitting clips with an angle of ap‐
proximately 65°) are installed on upper side and clips -B- on lower
side, otherwise front A/C control head can only be removed again
when the instrument panel center section has been removed
(clips -C- cannot be released on the lower side).
Install the Climatronic Control Module - J255- front A/C control
head (install in reverse order).
– Perform basic setting, encoding, adaptation (and final control
diagnosis, if necessary) for the A/C system. Use the Vehicle
Diagnostic Tester via the "Guided Fault Finding" function.
– Check the DTC memory of the Climatronic Control Module -
J255- front A/C control head (and of the Rear A/C Display
Control Head - E265- , if present) and erase DTCs displayed
if necessary. Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester via the "Gui‐
ded Fault Finding" function.

Removing
– Remove lower left instrument panel trim: Refer to ⇒ Body In‐
terior; Rep. Gr. 70 .
