– Remove the expansion element -A- from the turbocharger.
Refer to ⇒ Engine Mechanical; Rep. Gr. 21 .
– Loosen the threaded connector for the lower brackets for both
coolant lines -B- on the engine.
– Carefully move both coolant lines -B- to the side.
Note
Do not open the coolant circuit. The coolant lines -B- must be
moved only to the side.
To prevent damaging both coolant lines and coolant hoses
-B- be careful not to bend, kink or stretch them.
– Mark the connector to the A/C Compressor Regulator Valve -
N280- -A- (for example, because of danger of interchanging
with connector to electric engine mount).
– Mark running direction of ribbed belt -B-, for example using
chalk
– Remove the ribbed belt -B- from the A/C compressor belt pul‐
ley. Refer to ⇒ Engine Mechanical; Rep. Gr. 13 .
Note
It is not necessary to remove the ribbed belt -B- completely in
order to remove the compressor.
– Remove the bolts -C-.
– Pivot the compressor to the rear and remove it.
Note
The compressor bracket remains in the vehicle. For removing and
installing the compressor bracket, refer to ⇒ Engine Mechanical;
Rep. Gr. 13 .
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
Before installing the compressor, refer to ⇒ A/C System with Re‐
frigerant R134a; Rep. Gr. 87 ; A/C System General Information
(A/C System with Refrigerant R134a; A/C System General Infor‐
mation).
Note
There is a quantity of refrigerant oil in the removed compressor,
therefore observe the notes for replacing the compressor. Refer
to ⇒ A/C System with Refrigerant R134a; Rep. Gr. 87 ; Refrig‐
erant Circuit Components, Replacing (A/C System with Refriger‐
ant R134a; Refrigerant Circuit Components, Replacing).
– Always clean contact surfaces on the bracket and on the com‐
pressor.
