Note
Depending on the engine version (with or without tabs on the
♦
front left of the cylinder block), the A/C compressor for vehicles
with a 6 cylinder TDI engine may only be removed upwards
(for an engine with a large tab, there is too little room available
to remove the A/C compressor from below).
The compressor bracket -D- remains in the vehicle. For re‐
♦
moving and installing the compressor bracket , refer to ⇒
Engine Mechanical; Rep. Gr. 13 .
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
♦ Always clean contact surfaces on bracket on compressor.
♦ Install the bushings -C- into the A/C compressor bracket. Be
careful of the correct allocation because there are different
versions.
♦ Install one washer each -B- at bolts -A-.
♦ Install bolts -A- (tightening torque 25 Nm).
♦ Before fastening the compressor, check that both bushings
-C- in compressor bracket are seated correctly.
♦ After securing the compressor, check installed position of re‐
frigerant lines. The lines must be engaged in bracket (if instal‐
led, depending on engine).
♦ After attaching compressor, also check refrigerant pipes and
corresponding holders for adequate clearance with respect to
other components, ensuring sufficient distance between belt,
holder and pulley.
♦ Install the ribbed belt -E-. Refer to ⇒ Engine Mechanical; Rep.
Gr. 13 ; Cylinder Block, Belt Pulley Side
– Install remaining components.
Note
Note tightening torques of the removed bolts and nuts.

From MY 2012 on vehicles with a 6-cylinder TDI engine, an
♦
additional chafe protection is installed on the low pressure re‐
frigerant line as a running change. Make sure that the instal‐
lation position for the chafe protection is correct. Refer to

– Check the DTC memory for the Climatronic Control Module -
J255- A/C control head and erase any faults displayed if
necessary. Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester via the "Guided
Fault Finding" function.

– Switch off ignition.
– Remove the noise insulation. Refer to ⇒ Body Exterior; Rep.
Gr. 66 ; Underbody Trim Panels .
