Removing and Installing
Note
Pressing and holding the buttons on the Climatronic Control
Module - J255- front A/C control head or Rear A/C Display
Control Head - E265- for an extended period of time (for ex‐
ample, setting an object down on them) can cause an entry in
the DTC memory due to stuck buttons. If necessary, check the
function of the buttons and erase the DTC memory if no mal‐
function is found.
The Rear A/C Display Control Head - E265- exists in different
versions. Therefore note the correct allocation when replacing
a Rear A/C Display Control Head - E265- . Refer to the Parts
Catalog.
From MY 2010, the Climatronic Control Module - E265- front
A/C control head with part number 4L0 919,158 from index
"AA" will be installed as a running change. Refer to the Parts
Catalog. When replacing the Rear A/C Display Control Head
- E265- , pay attention to the correct allocation of the Clima‐
tronic Control Module - J255- front A/C control head (for ex‐
ample, with or without the
incorrect, it will not be possible to display and select several
functions on the A/C system.
At this time, the "component safeguard" function is not in effect
on the Rear A/C Display Control Head - E265- (introduction of
this function has not yet been finalized). Use the Vehicle Di‐
agnostic Tester via the "Guided Fault Finding" function.
The selected functions are displayed by illuminated LEDs in
the various buttons of Rear A/C Display Control Head - E265- .
Display fields and control buttons on the Rear A/C Display
Control Head - E265- are illuminated by light emitting diodes
(these LEDs cannot be replaced).
If a new Rear A/C Display Control Head - E265- was installed
and Basic Setting was not performed, A/C system controls are
restricted and this is displayed as a malfunction in DTC mem‐
ory. Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester via the "Guided Fault
Finding" function.
After replacing the Climatronic Control Module - J255- front A/
C control head, always perform basic setting, check adapta‐
tion and check DTC memory of A/C system. Use the Vehicle
Diagnostic Tester via the "Guided Fault Finding" function.
At this time, the Rear A/C Display Control Head - E265- is not
coded (vehicle-specific settings are performed here via the
"Adaptation" function). At the start of production, Rear A/C
Display Control Head - E265- units are installed on which a
coding is indicated; this coding can also be modified, however
it does not take effect and has no influence over A/C system
regulation.
In MY 2013, running changes to the A/C control head were
introduced (for example, recognizable by the labeling on the
button
instead of
A/C
J255- ). Pay attention to the correct allocation (part number
4L0 820 043 through index "AM" with the button
index "AN" with the button
an additional Rear A/C Display Control Head - E265- to use
the correct allocation of these two components with each oth‐
er. Refer to Parts Catalog.
