– Remove the nut -3- hand remove the washer -4- and selector
lever -2- from the selector shaft -1-.

Caution
Danger of causing damage to the transmission selector lever.
♦ Do not bend the transmission selector lever when instal‐
ling the selector lever cable. Control it if necessary.
– Press the selector lever cable -1- carefully onto the selector
lever.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
– Install the rear noise insulation. Refer to ⇒ Body Exterior; Rep.
Gr. 66 ; Underbody Trim Panels .

Special tools and workshop equipment required
♦ Seal Installer - Selector Shaft Oil Seal - T10174-
Procedure
– Remove the selector lever. Refer to
⇒ "2.3 Selector Lever, Removing and Installing", page 126
Caution
Shaft seal running surfaces on selector shaft and transmission
housing must not be damaged.
– Pry out the left selector shaft seal using a scriber or a small
screwdriver.
