Note
The compressor is driven via a toothed gear and a driveshaft
-B-.
Compressor bracket, removing and installing at engine. Refer
to ⇒ Engine Mechanical; Rep. Gr. 13 .
On vehicles with an 8 cylinder FSI engine, the refrigerant cir‐
cuit must be emptied and both refrigerant lines must be re‐
moved from the compressor to remove the compressor. Refer
to ⇒ A/C System with Refrigerant R134a; Rep. Gr. 87 ; Re‐
frigerant Circuit (A/C System with Refrigerant R134a; Refrig‐
erant Circuit, Using Service Station).
Removing compressor with drive unit
– Discharge the refrigerant circuit. Refer to ⇒ A/C System with
Refrigerant R134a; Rep. Gr. 87 ; Refrigerant Circuit (A/C Sys‐
tem with Refrigerant R134a; Refrigerant Circuit, Using Service
Station).
– Remove the noise insulation, if necessary. Refer to ⇒ Body
Exterior; Rep. Gr. 66 .
– Drain engine coolant. Refer to ⇒ Engine Mechanical; Rep. Gr.
19 .
– Remove front and rear engine covers. Refer to ⇒ Engine Me‐
chanical; Rep. Gr. 10 .
– Remove left and right air filter housing. Refer to ⇒ Engine
Mechanical; Rep. Gr. 24 .
– Remove nuts and bolts -arrows- of retaining clamps for refrig‐
erant line.
Note
Bolts of retaining clamps for refrigerant line are removed so that
the refrigerant lines can be pushed aside slightly and not dam‐
aged when inserting engine support bridge.
