9.18.1 Preparatory Work to Remove Heater
Core with Front A/C Unit Installed
Special tools and workshop equipment required
♦ Hose Clamps - Up To 25 mm - 3094-
♦ Compressed air gun, commercially available
♦ Cooling System Charge Unit - VAS6096- (hand pump and
corresponding adapter)
– Protect driver and passenger seat using seat cover.
– Turn the ignition on.
– On vehicles with electric seats, move these completely toward
rear.

– Switch off ignition.

– Release the pressure in coolant circuit by opening the cap on
the coolant expansion tank. Refer to ⇒ Engine Mechanical;
Rep. Gr. 19 ; Coolant System .
– Remove the windshield wiper completely. Refer to ⇒ Electrical
Equipment; Rep. Gr. 92 ; Windshield Wiper Arms System .
– Remove right and left sections of plenum chamber front wall
-A- and -B-. Refer to ⇒ Body Exterior; Rep. Gr. 50 ; Body
Front; Plenum Chamber Bulkhead, Removing and Installing .
Note
The right and left sections of plenum chamber front wall -A- and
-B- are secured to vehicle by bolts -C- and -D-. The seals -E- and
-F- are installed between both sections of plenum chamber front
wall and vehicle body.
