– Release clamp -F- on condensation water drain hose -G-.
– Disengage the A/C unit from air guide -C-, pull the A/C unit
slightly toward rear and then tilt it carefully toward the right to
do this.
– Set down the A/C unit on to a suitable surface.
Note
Make sure when tilting the A/C unit that coolant and refrigerant
lines must not be pinched or twisted, do not allow the A/C unit
to hang on these lines.
After installing the A/C unit, check coolant hoses -E- for proper
fit in pass-through -D- and condensation water hose for proper
fit and routing. Refer to

After the designated work steps have been performed, re-in‐
stall the A/C unit and removed components in the reverse
order.

Special tools and workshop equipment required
♦ Hose Clamps - Up To 25 mm - 3094-
♦ Cooling System Tester - VAG1274- (hand pump and corre‐
sponding adapter)
Removing
– Switch off ignition.
– Release pressure in cooling circuit by opening cap on coolant
expansion tank. Refer to ⇒ Engine Mechanical; Rep. Gr. 19 ;
Coolant System .
– Bring the rear A/C unit into service position. Refer to
⇒ "9.39 Rear A/C Unit, Bringing into Service Position",
page 180
.
– Remove the Left Rear Air Door Motor - V239- . Refer to
⇒ "9.45 Left Rear Air Door Motor V239 , Removing and In‐
stalling", page 187

– Remove the Right Rear Air Door Motor - V240- . Refer to
⇒ "9.44 Right Rear Air Door Motor V240 , Removing and In‐
stalling", page 186

– Remove bolts -A- and remove upper cover -B-.
