♦ Cooling System Tester - VAG1274- (hand pump and corre‐
sponding adapter)
Note
From MY 2014, a Coolant Shut-Off Valve - N82- is installed on
certain engines without the optional "parking heater".
The coolant shut-off valve -N82- is activated by the Climatronic
Control Module - J255- front A/C control head (via the Engine
Coolant Shut-Off Valve Relay - J541- ), when no heat is de‐
sired in the passenger compartment. Refer to Wiring dia‐
grams, Troubleshooting and Component locations. Use the
Vehicle Diagnostic Tester via the "Guided Fault Finding" func‐
tion.
The Heater Coolant Shut-Off Valve - N82- is activated by the
Auxiliary Heater Control Module - N279- when requested by
the climatronic control module -J255- on vehicles with the op‐
tional "parking heater" and a motor on which a coolant shut-
off valve -J255- would be activated (observe the parking
heater adaptation). Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester via the
"Guided Fault Finding" function.

Removing
– Switch off ignition.
– Remove left front wheel.
– Remove the left front wheel housing liner. Refer to ⇒ Body
Exterior; Rep. Gr. 66 ; Wheel Housing Liners .
– Release the pressure in coolant circuit by opening the cap on
the coolant expansion tank. Refer to ⇒ Engine Mechanical;
Rep. Gr. 19 ; Coolant System .
