♦ From MY 2011, this vehicle has a Start/Stop System for spe‐
cific engines as optional equipment. On vehicles with a start/
stop system installed, only the Climatronic Control Module -
J255- front A/C control head with part number 4L0 820 043
from the index "AD" may be or will be installed (vehicles with
the start/stop system have the required auxiliary functions
built-in). Pay attention to the correct version, coding and
adapting for the Climatronic Control Module - J255- front A/C
control head on these vehicles. Refer to the Parts Catalog and
use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester via the "Guided Fault Find‐
ing" function.
Note
♦ On vehicles with a Start/Stop system, the Coolant Recircula‐
tion Pump - V50- is turned on by the climatronic control module
-J255- during the stop function when it is necessary to heat
the passenger compartment. In addition, the signal is evalu‐
ated by the Humidity Sensor - G355- installed for these vehi‐
cles.
On a vehicle with a start/stop system and a parking-/auxiliary

heater, also pay attention to the correct version, coding and
adaptation of the parking-/auxiliary heater (of the Auxiliary
Heater Control Module - J364- ). Refer to the Parts Catalog
and use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester via the "Guided Fault
Finding" function.
♦ In MY 2013, running changes to the A/C control head were
introduced (for example, recognizable by the labeling on the
button instead of
A/C
J255- ). Pay attention to the correct allocation (part number
4L0 820 043 through index "AM" with the button
index "AN" with the button
an additional Rear A/C Display Control Head - E265- to use
the correct allocation of these two components with each oth‐
er. Refer to Parts Catalog.
9.5.3 Climatronic Control Module - J255-
Front A/C Control Head Information,
"Basic" Version
♦ The Climatronic Control Module - J255- front A/C control head
"Basic" version -A- is available in different versions (for exam‐
ple, with or without seat heater button). Refer to the Parts
Catalog.
♦ On the Climatronic Control Module - J255- front A/C control
head "Basic" version -A-, control knobs -B-, -C- and -D- (rotary
control) cannot be pulled off and therefore cannot be replaced
individually.
♦ On the Climatronic Control Module - J255- front A/C control
head "Basic" version, "air distribution", "outflowing air temper‐
ature" and "fresh air blower speed" are controlled as a function
of the setting of the control knobs -B-, -C- and -D- (rotary con‐
trol).
