Observe the information regarding operating the A/C system after

A/C system.

Compressor, Removing and Installing
(Vehicles with 12-Cylinder TDI Engine)
Removing
– Discharge the refrigerant circuit. Refer to ⇒ A/C System with
Refrigerant R134a; Rep. Gr. 87 ; Refrigerant Circuit (A/C Sys‐
tem with Refrigerant R134a; Refrigerant Circuit, Using Service
Station).
– Remove the noise insulation. Refer to ⇒ Body Exterior; Rep.
Gr. 66 .
– Move the lock carrier into the service position. Refer to ⇒ Body
Exterior; Rep. Gr. 50 .
– Remove the air filter housing upper section and the air intake
for the turbocharger. Refer to ⇒ 12-Cylinder, TDI Fuel Injec‐
tion and Preglow System; Rep. Gr. 23 .
– Remove both refrigerant lines from the compressor. Refer to
⇒ "15.3 Refrigerant Lines, Disconnecting from Compressor
and Connecting", page 250
Note
The refrigerant lines -A- and -B- can be removed from the top
because there is enough space with the air filter housing upper
section removed.
Do not bend, kink or stretch lines or hoses as refrigerant lines
and refrigerant hoses may be damaged.
– Loosen the threaded connector for the upper brackets for both
coolant lines -C- on the engine.
Note
Do not open the coolant circuit. The coolant lines -C- must be
moved only to the side.
– Remove the pressure hose for the turbocharger. Refer to ⇒
Engine Mechanical; Rep. Gr. 21 .
