General Information

Note
When removing retaining plates, mark the various control mo‐
tors (risk of interchange with other control motors, control
motors are currently identical in construction, the difference
lies in the levers which operate the doors. Refer to the Parts
Catalog).
If control motors are interchanged, these control motors with
the incorrect installation locations do not reach their specified
end position, and the malfunction "upper or lower limit excee‐
ded" may be displayed in DTC memory after basic setting.
When removing, mark the various connectors to the control
motors (risk of interchange with connectors and control motors
of identical construction). Various connectors of identical con‐
struction are present on wiring harness of the A/C unit, apply
identifying marks on connectors before disconnecting (risk of
interchange). Refer to the Parts Catalog.
Apply a small amount of Grease - G 000 150- to the connecting
element guides, as well as the pins and toothed segments on
the door levers. Refer to the Parts Catalog.
The A/C unit may only be removed when the refrigerant circuit
has been discharged. Bring the vehicle to a workshop that has
the necessary tools and where the work can be performed by
qualified personnel. Refer to ⇒ Refrigerant R134a, Servicing;
Rep. Gr. 87 ; A/C System, General Information (Refrigerant
R134a, Servicing; A/C System, General Information).
The A/C unit is available in different versions (Basic and Com‐
fort, for vehicles with left- or right-side steering), therefore note
the exact assignment of the various components.
From MY 2009, certain vehicles with a 6-cylinder TDI engine
without an "auxiliary heater", have an Auxiliary Heater Heating
Element - Z35- instead of a fuel-driven auxiliary heater instal‐
led depending on the emissions standard (running change
depending on the engine). Refer to the Audi Sales Program
and ⇒ Parking/Auxiliary Heater; Rep. Gr. 82 . In addition,
loosen the respective wire connections for vehicles with an
Auxiliary Heater Heating Element - Z35- . Refer to
⇒ "9.19 Auxiliary Heater Heating Element Z35 , Removing and
Installing", page 140
Air Conditioner, Removing and Installing. Refer to
