– Insert the grommet -C- into plenum chamber rear wall and then
check fit of grommet -C- on flange of coolant pipes (in pas‐
senger compartment).
– Connect the coolant hose -A- to coolant pipe to heater core
(coolant hose -B- is not connected for the time being).
Note
Connect the coolant hoses on proper side, the coolant hose -A-
supply from engine (via the pipes under left fender) and coolant
hose -B- return to engine (via the pipes under left fender). Refer
to
⇒ "6 Incorporation of the A/C System in Vehicle Coolant Circuit",
page 66 .
– Fill coolant into coolant expansion tank up to top marking.
– Open the Hose Clamps - Up To 25 mm - 3094- on the coolant
hose -A- far enough that coolant can flow slowly into heater
core (to pre-bleed heater core).
Note
If coolant does not flow into heater core on its own, pressure
♦
can be built up in coolant expansion tank using hand pump of
Cooling System Tester - VAG1274- and thereby accelerate
the flow.
By pre-bleeding the cooling circuit, the bleeding of the cooling
♦
system at start-up becomes considerably easier after instal‐
lation. Refer to ⇒ "7 Coolant Circuit, Bleeding", page 78

– Wait until coolant exits from coolant hose connection -B- at the
coolant pipe to heater core.
– Connect the coolant hose -B- at the coolant pipe to heater
core.
– Install the remaining removed components in engine compart‐
ment again in reverse order.
