Assumed that there is no version is configured at process and all version configurations at interface level.
Step1: Configure authentication on Router A
interface2 on Router B: (Default version or version 1 compatible)
Send: Version 1
Receive: Version 1
Version 2 broadcast and multicast
interface1 on Router A: (Version 1)
Send: Version 1
Receive: Version 1
interface3 on Router C: (Version 1)
Send: Version 1
Receive: Version 1
If we configure authentication on version 1 interface, there will be no impact for sending
version 1 packets.
Step2: Configure authentication on Router C
interface2 on Router B: (Default version or version 1 compatible)
Send: Version 1
Receive: Version 1
Version 2 broadcast and multicast
interface1 on Router A: (Version 1)
Send: Version 1
Receive: Version 1
interface3 on Router C: (Version 1)
Send: Version 1
Receive: Version 1
If we configure authentication on version 1 interface, there will be no impact for sending
version 1 and receiving packets.
Step3: Configure authentication on Router B

If we configure authentication on default version supported interface, there will be no
impact for sending version 1 and receiving packets. If version 2 packets are received, they
must be authenticated.
Step4: Undo rip version at Router A
interface2 on Router B: (Default version or version 1 compatible)

Receive: Version 1
Version 2 broadcast and multicast with authentication
interface1 on Router A: (Default version or version 1 compatible)
