In most cases, different ASs are under different technical administrations and therefore do not
fully trust each other. To improve BGP network security, the following solutions are available,

forwarding plane can
function properly even
if the control plane is
faulty.

Feature
NSR ensures that route
processing is not
interrupted on the
control and forwarding
planes during a master/
slave MPU switchover
using the backup
mechanism of a related
protocol.
NSR does not depend
on or affect the remote
peer, and there is no
communication failure
arising from NSR.
