Issue 02 (2014-09-30)
The packet exchange between Router A to Router B is version 2 broadcast with
authentication. Authentication was already configured on both Router A and Router B and
both are allowed to receive version 2 broadcasts, so there will be no impact on packet flow.
Step5: Configure version 2 on interface1 of Router A
interface1 on Router A: (Version 2)
Send:
Version 2 multicast with authentication
Receive: Version 2 broadcast and multicast with authentication
interface2 on Router B:
Send: Version 2 broadcast with authentication
Receive: Version 1
Version 2 broadcast and multicast with authentication
The packet exchange from Router A to Router B is version 2 multicast with authentication.
Authentication was already configured on Router B also, so Router B will accept the packets
from Router A. The exchange from Router B to Router A is version 2 broadcast with
authentication. Router A is allowed to receive version 2 broadcast packets even in version
2 mode.
Step6: Configure version 2 on interface2 of Router B
interface1 on Router A: (Version 2)
Send: Version 2 multicast with authentication
Receive: Version 2 broadcast and multicast with authentication
interface2 on Router B: (Version 2)
Send: Version 2 multicast with authentication
Receive: Version 2 broadcast and multicast with authentication
The packet exchange between Router A to Router B is version 2 multicast with
authentication. Authentication was already configured on both Router A and Router B and
both are allowed to receive version 2 multicast, so there will be no impact on packet flow.
NOTE
On network, multicast protocol packets are advisable, since broadcast packets will be reached to
normal hosts also in that network.
