packet-forwarding asf
This command is used to enable the Alternative Store and Forward (ASF) feature. It allows packets to be
sent in a cut-through manner. Use the no command to disable the ASF feature. When ASF is disabled, all
packets are sent in the store and forward mode.

Parameters
None.
Default
By default, this option is disabled.
Command Mode
Global Configuration Mode.
Command Default Level
Level: 12.
Usage Guideline
ASF is used to reduce the latency for large packets. When ASF is enabled, packets can be forwarded
before it has been entirely received. To avoid under runs, ASF takes place only when all the below
conditions are met:
The ingress port speed is faster or equal to that of the egress port.
The packet size is larger than the pre-defined value.
Example
This example shows how to enable the ASF feature.
Switch# configure terminal
Switch(config)# packet-forwarding asf
