Operation
Basic trunk configuration for IPBS Master and Standby Master
Configure at least one Primary Trunk on the IPBS Master for communication with
Communication Manager. This trunk goes to Active mode during normal operation of the IPBS
Master. Additionally, configure an IPBS Standby Master to handle a failover if the IPBS Master
is out of operation. Configure a second trunk to Communication Manager on the IPBS Standby
Master. When the IPBS Master operates nomally, this trunk remains in the Up state, that is,
communication with Communication Manager is established but currently not in use.
If the IPBS Master goes out of operation, the Standby Master takes over after some time. The
trunk on the IPBS standby Master now goes to Active mode and the communication with
Communication Manager is done through this trunk. On Communication Manager side, the
DECT XMobile stations are moved to the trunk group connected to the Standby Master.
Therefore a proprietary H.323 X-Mobile message from the Standby master to the
Communication Manager for each DECT user is sent.
If IPBS Master comes back into operation, IPBS Master again sends a message to change the
trunk group configuration on Communication Manager side back to the trunk used by the
Master.

Redundant Trunk Configuration
Redundant Trunks on IPBS Master and Standby Master handle outages on the Communication
Manager side or on the network, for example, on WAN. A Redundant Trunk configuration is
supports, for example, a LSP failover in a Branch office in case of an outage of the
IP-connection to the headquarters. A Redundant Trunk configuration can also be used to
different CLAN boards for redundancy reasons in case of single CLAN outages.
