Installing and operating the IPBS and IPBL
Configuring the NTP settings
The IPBS/IPBL does not have a battery-backed real-time clock. Therefore, the internal time is
set to 0:00 hrs and to 1.1.1970 in case of a restart.
In order to get the correct time in the system, specify the IP address of a NTP time server. The
IPBS/IPBL will synchronize its internal clock to the time server at startup and at the specified
intervals. The clock is, for example, used by the telephones and log files.
Figure 38: Configuring NTP settings
1. Select General > NTP.
2. Enter the IP address to the NTP server.
3. Enter a time interval in the Interval (min) text field.
4. Select time zone in the Time zone drop-down list. If the time zone that you want is not in
the list, select Other and edit the String text field following the instructions in step 5.
5. Enter the following timezone string if you want the summer and winter times to update
automatically:
<String = StdOffset [Dst[SecondOffset], Date/Time, Date/Time]>
where Std is the name of time zone and can be freely defined. You can use the
characters: a-z, A-Z. You cannot use numbers, blanks, or special characters. For
example, EST for Eastern Standard Time.
where Offset is the time difference between the timezone and the Universal Time
Coordinator (UTC).
- Example 1: Eastern Standard Time (EST) is 5 hours behind UTC (EST=UTC-5).
