HYDRAULIC BRAKE
Place a shop towel over the pistons.
Position the caliper body with the pistons facing down
Do not use high
and apply small squirts of air pressure to the fluid inlet
pressure air or bring
to remove the pistons.
the nozzle too close
to the inlet.
Clean the seal grooves with clean brake fluid.
Assembly is in the reverse order of disassembly.
• Apply locking agent to the caliper pin and bracket
pin threads.
• Replace the piston seals and dust seals with new
ones.
• Apply brake fluid to the caliper pistons and new
piston seals.
• Apply silicone grease to new dust seals.
• Install the pistons with the opening toward the pads.
• Apply Honda Bond A, Cemedine #540 or equivalent
to the brake pad retainer mating surface.
• Apply 0.4 g (0.01 oz) of silicone grease to the caliper
pin and bracket pin sliding surface.
INSPECTION
Check the caliper cylinders for scoring or other
damage.
Measure the each caliper cylinder I.D.
SERVICE LIMIT:
Cylinder A [1]: 22.712 mm (0.8941 in)
Cylinder B [2]: 27.060 mm (1.0654 in)
Check the caliper pistons for scratches, scoring or other
damage.
Measure the each caliper piston O.D.
SERVICE LIMIT:
Piston A [3]: 22.56 mm (0.888 in)
Piston B [4]: 26.91 mm (1.059 in)

REAR BRAKE CALIPER

REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
Drain the brake fluid from the hydraulic system:
– NC700X/S (page 19-8)
– NC700XA/XD/SA/SD (page 19-11)
Remove the brake hose oil bolt [1], sealing washers [2]
and brake hose.
When removing the oil bolt, cover the end of brake hose
to prevent contamination.
Remove the brake pads (page 19-18).
