HYDRAULIC BRAKE
INSPECTION
Check the master cylinder [1] for scoring, scratches or
damage.
Check the master piston [2] for scoring, scratches or
damage.
Check the piston cup [3] for wear, deterioration or
damage.
Measure the master cylinder I.D.
SERVICE LIMIT: 14.055 mm (0.5533 in)
Measure the master piston O.D.
SERVICE LIMIT: 13.945 mm (0.5490 in)
Check the following:
– Push rod [1] for bent
– Boot [2] for damage
– Rod joint [3] for damage
Replace the damaged part if necessary.

• Replace the front brake caliper mounting bolts and
sealing washers with new ones.
• Install the brake hose eyelet joint between the brake
caliper body.
• Route the hoses properly (page 1-25).
TORQUE:
Front brake caliper mounting bolt:
30 N·m (3.1 kgf·m, 22 lbf·ft)
Brake hose oil bolt:
34 N·m (3.5 kgf·m, 25 lbf·ft)
Fill the reservoir to the upper level and bleed the front
brake system (page 19-9).
