PCU (PHOTOCONDUCTOR UNIT)
- Toner Density Sensor Initial Setting -
The TD sensor initial setting procedure is performed in the factory. During TD
initial setting, the machine calibrates the TD sensor control voltage (V
)
CONT
so that the TD sensor output voltage is 2.0 ± 0.1V using new developer with a
standard toner concentration (6% by weight, 21.6 g of toner in 360 g of
developer). This factory-adjusted value will be used for toner density control
processing.
- Toner Density Measurement -
Toner density in the developer is detected once every copy cycle (point "1"
on the flow chart). The sensor output voltage (V
) during the detection cycle
T
is compared with the toner supply reference voltage (V
).
TREF
- Toner Supply Reference Voltage (V
) Determination -
TREF
The toner reference voltage (V
) is the TD sensor initial setting voltage,
TREF
corrected for humidity as detected by the humidity sensor (point "2" on the
flow chart). To change the image density, the humidity correction coefficient
for V
can be changed using SP 2-911 (there are five settings). The
TREF
larger the value entered in this SP mode, the lighter the copies will be.
- Toner Supply Determination -
V
is the threshold voltage for determining whether or not to supply toner.
TREF
If V
becomes greater than V
(points "3" and "4" on the flow chart), the
T
TREF
machine supplies additional toner.
