5.2.3 Paper End Detection

The paper end feeler [A] is located on the same shaft as the paper end
actuator [B]. When the paper tray runs out of paper, the paper end feeler
drops into the cutout [C] in the tray bottom plate. The paper end actuator
activates the paper end sensor [D].
The paper end actuator is in contact with the lever [E]. When the tray is
drawn out, the lever turns as shown by the arrow in the figure. Then the lever
pushes up the actuator inward. As a result, the feeler rotates upwards. This
mechanism is necessary to prevent the feeler from being damaged by the
paper tray body.
