If the serial number of the base machine is A7626110001 or higher, the
ARDF installation is completed. It is not necessary to perform the
procedure listed below.
If the serial number is lower than A7626110001, continue with the
installation procedure below.
The main ROM on the BICU board MUST be upgraded. Ricoh had previously
shipped to each dealer one (1) set of the upgrade ROM's (revision "G") and
one (1) EPROM PCB for use during the upgrade procedure. If the EPROM
PCB or the upgraded ROM's are not available, both items can be purchased
through normal channels.
To determine the revision level of the Main ROM, print a copy of the System
Parameter and Data List; Log Data.
1. Enter the Service Program Mode as described on page 4-4 of the service
manual.
2. Select the SP Mode 5-992, option 3 and print a copy of the System
Parameter and Data List; Log data. Refer to the procedure listed on page
4-39 of the service manual. There will be an approximate 35 second
delay before the list is printed.
If the revision of the Main ROM is "G" (or higher), no further action is
required.
3. Install the upgrade ROM's in the EPROM PCB and perform the Program
Download procedure as described on page 4-41 of the service manual.
The time duration of the download procedure is approximately 2.25
minutes.
4. On the completion of the download procedure, print another copy of the
System Parameter Data List; Log data to confirm the Main ROM revision.
Refer to the procedure listed above. Note that the ROM upgrade added
another selection (4: All) to System Parameter Data List Menu.
If the revision of the Main Rom is not "G", repeat the download procedure
listed above.
5. Test the ARDF unit to ensure that the document feeder operates properly.
