2.4 STAPLER
[B]
[D]
[G]
[E]
[H]
The staple hammer [A] is driven by the stapler motor [B] via gears, the
eccentric cam [C].
When the aligned copies are brought to the stapling position by the brush
roller and jogger fence, the stapler motor [B] will turn on. When the cam [C]
completes one rotation, the staple hammer home position switch [D] will
open, detecting the end of the stapling operation. The staple motor will then
turn off.
The feed gear [E] drives the staple feed roller [F] to feed a sheet of staples
towards the staple hammer. The feed gear is driven by the long hook [G]
when the hammer moves upward and by the short hook [H] when the
hammer moves downward.
When there is only one sheet of staples left in the cartridge, the actuator [I]
will move upward and the staple end switch will open.
When jammed staples are left in the staple unit, carefully release the blue
latch [K] and lift the staple guide [J] to remove the jammed staples.
