Oil ring (spacer)

7. If the piston pin cannot be tapped
in easily, replace
the piston
pin or the connecting
rod.
8. Check the oscillation
torque
of the connecting
rod
as shown in the figure.
If the large end does not
drop
by its own weight,
replace
the piston
and
piston pin.

Ring
1, Install the three-piece
oil rings on the pistons.
(1) Apply engine
oil to the oil ring spacer and rails
(2) Install the oil ring spacer.
(3) Install the upper
rail and lower rail.
Caution
@After
installation
of the upper
and
lower
side rails, make certain they turn smoothly
in both
directions.

b) Do not align
the end gaps,
stagger
them.
2. Install the second
and top ring.
(1) Apply a liberal coat of engine
oil to the piston
rings.
(2) Install the second
ring to the piston first, then
the top one, using a piston
ring insertion
tool,
(commercially
available).
Caution
The rings
must
be installed
so the "R"
marks
face upward.
