VOIP NUMBERS

A VoIP number is like a telephone number. It allows a caller to dial a TalkSwitch system across
the TalkSwitch VoIP network or through a VoIP service provider.
A VoIP number can be three or more digits long. Each VoIP number must be unique (i.e. only
used at one location). The administrator for all locations needs to assign and keep track of the
VoIP numbers within the TalkSwitch VoIP network.
VoIP numbers 250 to 299 permit direct dialing from any extension, auto attendant or call
cascade to any extension, auto attendant, announcement or voice mailbox in the TalkSwitch
VoIP network. No hunt group is required. Longer VoIP numbers can also be used, but the user
must first dial a hunt group number.
You can set up unique call handling for each VoIP number. Call handling for VoIP numbers is
identical to call handling for telephone numbers. You can set up call handling for Mode 1, Mode
2 and Holiday Mode.
If a VoIP number is called, the system can ring selected local extensions in sequence, and then
play an auto attendant or announcement, or go to a voice mailbox. Alternatively, it can
immediately play an auto attendant or announcement, or go to a voice mailbox without ringing
the extensions. For example, you can set up a general VoIP number that reaches the main auto
attendant, and other VoIP numbers that are routed to specific extensions.
If you are using a TalkSwitch-certified VoIP service provider, visit the support section at http:/
/global.talkswitch.com to access the service configuration guide for your VoIP service provider.
The VoIP Numbers page allows you to set up VoIP numbers. It is only present with a VoIP-
enabled TalkSwitch unit.
