1. Before you contact Comtech EF Data Product Support to order FAST feature upgrades, you
must retrieve the modem's motherboard serial number. Use the front panel SELECT: FAST
menu, as explained in Sect. 5.2.1 Step 1, to obtain and record the modem's motherboard
serial number.

2. View the currently installed FAST features: Use the 'Admin | FAST' page (Figure 5-1) to
view the currently installed features. Any options that appear in the scrollable Options – Not
Installed list box may be purchased as a FAST upgrade.
3. Contact Comtech EF Data Product Support to order features:
A. Provide the unit Serial Number to the Product Support representative.
B. Identify and purchase the desired FAST option(s).
C. Obtain the invoice, the register-specific 20-digit FAST Access Code(s), and the FAST
option activation instructions.
4. Activate your purchased FAST features.
A. In the FAST code section of the 'Admin | FAST' page, carefully enter the register-
specific 20-character FAST Access Code into its designated text box (Register 1 or
Register 2) (each FAST Access Code is submitted separately). Click [Submit].
B. The message "Configured Successfully" appears at the top of the FAST code section if
the FAST upgrade is accepted; the modem then resets to its newly-incorporated default
configuration.
However, if an invalid code is entered, either of the following messages may appear
instead:
Repeat the FAST Access Code entry procedure. Should the code entry error persist,
contact Comtech EF Data Product Support for further assistance.
FAST Activation Procedure
When a FAST Access Code is obtained from Comtech EF Data, it will be
for a specific option register. The FAST options are linked to two option
registers:

Register1 is for Data Rate, L-Band, and Framing options.
•
Register2 is for Modulation type and Packet Processor options.
