While the self-checks are automatically taking place, the scale
checks may be performed.
2.
Place the 500 gram weight on each scale (saline,
anticoagulant, plasma, red cell, and in-process), allowing
enough time for the instrument to perform a check. As each
check is completed successfully, a scale pass icon will appear in
the appropriate area for that scale.
3.
Repeat the step above using the 1000 gram weight.
Note: Two 500 gram weights may be used in lieu of the
1000 gram weight.
Note: Weights may be placed on the scales in any order. The
500 gram weight may be used to check one scale while the
1000 gram weight is used to check another scale.
Typical Successful Scale Check Screen
Self-checks take approximately 5 minutes to complete. Do not
place anything on the scales after the scale checks have been
completed. The clear scales prompt will remain on the screen as a
reminder to keep the scales clear until prompted to load the kit.
