Draw Phase
The part of the procedure during which blood is removed
from the donor for separation.
Draw Rate
The rate at which whole blood is removed from the
donor, measured in mL/min.
Dual Leukoreduction Filter Fixture
The fixture that holds either the 2RBC-LR or
RBC/Plasma leukoreduction filter during a procedure.
Elbow
The part of the disposable kit tubing that bends at a
90-degree angle as it comes from the umbilicus. The
elbow allows for the tubing to be inserted in the optical
sensors.
Extracorporeal Volume
The amount of blood outside of the donor at a given time
during a procedure.
Fan Filters
Filters that cover two fans on the instrument: one on the
bottom of the instrument, and one on the rear of the
instrument.
Foldout Scale
The saline scale. Found on the upper right side of the
instrument, this scale holds and monitors the saline
container during a procedure.
Fuse
Replaceable electrical component buffer located in a small
compartment just above the power cord connection site
on the rear of the instrument.
Hanging Scale
One of three scales found on the upper left part of the
instrument. The three hanging scales include the red cell
scale, plasma scale, and in-process scale.
Hemoglobin
The main component of red blood cells which serves to
transport oxygen and carbon dioxide, measured in
grams/dL.
