When the target red cell volume is reached, the touch screen will
display the procedure information screen with the animated
processing icon, and red cell processing begins. This indicates the
instrument is automatically processing the red cell product by
adding red cell preservation solution and pumping the mixture
through the leukoreduction filter into the red cell storage
container.
A ratio of approximately 1 mL of red cell preservation solution is
added to 2.1 mL of absolute red blood cells.

Note: If the leukoreduction filter is discovered to be placed in
the incorrect slot before blood enters the filter, touch the STOP
button and place the filter into the correct slot, close the fixture
and resume the procedure.
Note: If the dual leukoreduction filter fixture is discovered to be
in the open position while the product is filtering, press the
STOP button and allow the red cells in the filter to drain naturally
until the fixture can be easily closed. Do NOT force the fixture
closed. Product processing may be resumed after the fixture has
been closed. Under these circumstances, the final product should
be evaluated for residual leukocytes and red cell quality.
Note: If the Split Plasma Product configuration will be chosen,
the operator may split the product while the red cell processing is
taking place. Follow the directions found under Splitting the
Plasma Product.
Once the processing phase is complete, the touch screen will add
the filtration time to the procedure information screen.
