Cassette
The cassette is a rigid plastic component that contains the
pumping chambers, valves, and available fluid paths to and from
the different ports located along the outer rim that allows fluid
flow to other parts of the kit. The location of these chambers,
valves, and paths match the pneumatic pumping system located
in the cassette compartment of the instrument.
The cassette also contains a macroaggregate removal filter in one
of its chambers. All fluids that are returned or infused to the
donor pass through this filter.
A plastic sheathing closes the fluid paths and provides an
interface for the pneumatic pumping system to close or open a
valve or push and draw fluid into and out of a pump chamber.
The instrument controls the fluid path and rate of flow from any
of the cassette ports by opening and closing the valves and
pumps.
