Red Cell Container
The bag on the disposable kit that is placed on the
middle hanging scale on the instrument. This container
holds the separated red cells collected during the
procedure until they are processed.
Red Cell Scale
The middle hanging scale. It holds and monitors the red
cell container of the disposable kit during collection.
Red Cell Spillover
This occurs when red cells enter the plasma line from the
centrifuge.
Red Cell Storage Container
One or two bags on the disposable kit designed to hold
and store the red cell product after it has been processed.
Return Phase
The part of the procedure where blood components and
saline are returned to the donor following separation.
Return Rate
The rate of fluid flow as components and saline are
returned to the donor, measured in mL/min.
Saline
A solution of 0.9% sodium chloride. Saline is returned to
the donor during the return phase and any time the
operator chooses to infuse saline to the donor.
Saline Container
The bag that holds the saline solution and is placed on
the foldout scale during a procedure.
Saline Scale
The foldout scale located on the upper right side of the
instrument. This scale holds and monitors the saline
container during a procedure.
Sampling Pack
A small pouch, located near the needle, used to collect a donor
blood sample for testing purposes.
