The battery back-up system automatically supplies power to the
instrument if the primary electrical power to the instrument is
lost. The system on battery icon will be displayed in the upper left
corner of the status zone. Alarms are triggered and limited
options are made available (standby, process product, end
procedure); however, the instrument will not allow collection to
continue unless there is a return to AC power. When primary
electrical power is returned, the instrument automatically switches
from battery supply back to the primary electrical supply. The
instrument will not turn ON if primary electrical power is not
supplied.
When the instrument detects the battery is charged to less than
80%, a charging battery icon will be displayed in the upper left corner
of the status zone when the STOP button test screen appears.
The animated charging battery icon is displayed to alert the operator
that the battery needs to be charged. A battery level low alert
screen, as shown below, will pop up at the perform venipuncture
prompt. The operator is instructed to keep the instrument turned
ON and connected to the primary power source. This alert
screen must be acknowledged by touching the check button before
the procedure can continue.
Typical Battery Level Low Alert Overlay
The battery can keep the instrument in standby mode for
approximately 30 minutes if the battery is fully charged. When
the battery charge falls below 80% and no electrical power is
supplied, an orange low battery icon will begin to flash to alert the
operator that battery power will end soon.
