Return Phase
A one-note chime sounds and the green signal light on top of the
instrument flashes to inform the operator that the first return cycle
is starting. During the return phase, the blood in the in-process
container is pumped to the centrifuge for processing, while
collected plasma and saline are returned to the donor.
After plasma and saline are reinfused to the donor and the
anticoagulated whole blood in the in-process container has been
processed, the instrument begins another draw phase. This process
of draw-return phases continues until the collection is complete.
The product volume icon continuously displays the amount of red cells
that have been collected in the red cell container.

The instrument may return fluids to the donor at a rate equal to or
less than the default; however, it will not return fluids at a rate
greater than the default. The rate is determined by the instrument
at the beginning of each return phase and is dependent upon the
amount of anticoagulated whole blood in the in-process container,
