Button
A graphic displayed on the touch screen that needs to be
touched by the operator in order to initiate an action by
the instrument, verify a step, or proceed to the next part
of the procedure. (See also "STOP button".)
Cannula(e)
The breakable portion just below a solution container
that prevents fluid from flowing into the attached tubing
until needed.
Cassette
The part of the disposable kit that provides fluid flow
pathways and interfaces with the pneumatic pumping
system of the instrument.
Cassette Compartment
The part of the instrument that interacts with the cassette
found on the disposable kit. The cassette compartment
consists of the pump block, pump block gasket, cassette
compartment door, donor safety clamp, and air detectors.
Cassette Compartment Door
The part of the instrument that covers the cassette
compartment, keeps the cassette on the disposable kit in
place, and protects the pump block.
Cassette Guides
Small metal projections on the periphery of the pump
block that ease the installation of the disposable kit's
cassette onto the pump block. There are six cassette
guides.
Centrifuge
The centrifuge uses centrifugal force to separate whole
blood into its components. The separation chamber on
the disposable kit fits into a carrier in the centrifuge.
Centrifuge Door
The blue plastic cover that protects the centrifuge
compartment.
