Intelligent Flow Control, (IFC) automatically responds to low
flow rate issues that may occur during the draw phase of a
procedure. If the donor's vein appears to be unable to
maintain the programmed draw rate, IFC temporarily halts the
draw, and may increase the pressure cuff or decrease the draw
rate. These steps are repeated until the problem is resolved.
Additionally, when the IFC makes an adjustment and lowers
the draw rate, the return rate will also be decreased. If an
occlusion should occur, an alarm sounds and the operator is
notified.
The Donor Flow Indicator visually informs the operator how
well the donor's vein is responding to the programmed draw
rate and is displayed on the screen during the draw phase. The
Donor Flow Indicator is not displayed during the return phase.
The visual information provided by the Indicator includes color
changes, which correspond to the segments that are displayed
within the Indicator and to the active draw rate button. The
Indicator is a dynamic tool and the number of segments
displayed may be continuously changing as the donor squeezes
and the flow rate fluctuates.
