To burp the red cell product, follow these steps:
1.
Close the clamp on the tubing between the red cell storage
container and the "Y" junction.
2.
Remove the paper strip from the coiled segment tubing, if
desired.
3.
Open the latch on the dual leukoreduction filter fixture.
4.
Remove the red cell storage container and hold port-side up.
5.
Open the clamp between the one-way check valve and the
"Y" junction.
6.
Gently squeeze the red cell storage container, port side up,
to expel any air into the leukoreduction filter.
7.
Continue to squeeze the container until the segment tubing
is filled with red cells up to the "X" just before reaching the
one-way check valve. This will allow sufficient space for
sealing the tubing. Proceed carefully in order to prevent the
loss of any red cells into the valve.
8.
Close the clamp between the one-way check valve and the
"Y" junction.
9.
Touch the check button to verify the red cell product has been
burped.
CAUTION: Do not strip the segment tubing below the
leukoreduction filter until separated from the filter.
Note: The one-way check valve does not allow red cells to
re-enter the red cell container.
